Hydrangeas are one of those amazing perennials that start every spring from nothing and grow into a full-sized shrub by midsummer. Like almost all of the plants in our garden, this was planted by the previous owners of our house. Frankly, I would've chosen something other than this giant "mophead" variety, but I have to admit the color of the flowers is pretty spectacular.
